Also i can not see Lovisa's face in the wedding photo either. From the portrait its clear she is sitting next to QV but.. it's hard to make out alot of the individuals.

ella-do you have any copies of the blown up sections? I would love to see some.
If you dont have them saved already don't worry about it though.

I have tried to circle in Lovisa, and I hope it helps a bit.

There are threads on almost all of them.

Looking through the death/funeral magazine coverage on Queen Alexandra, she had the Tuxen portrait of Queen Maud's wedding hanging on one of the walls at Sandringham.

In case someone's still interested:

My best bet is that Lovisa is wearing
the Empress Josephine cameo tiara, also
worn by Queen Silvia at her wedding
in 1976

In her childhood Lovisa was called Sessa. This was derived from the Swedish word for princess: 'prinsessa'. Her grandfather, king Oscar I, called her this.

Her mother, princess Louise of the Netherlands, catched a cold after she had been to the funeral of her mother, princess Louise of Prussia (1808-1870). She died in 1871, 42 years old, in the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

I've always wondered what's known about the youth and education of Frederik VIII, son of Christian IX, especially the period before his father became king. I can't find very much of this period.
And does anyone have photos or paintings of him in his youth ??
I found this, but if someone has it in colour, would be very nice  :)

It was made in 1852 by E.Jerichau-Baumann.

He had a drinking problem and opted out of a marriage with Princess Olga of Greece. He was also reputed to have a tatoo on his body.  ;)

That was Frederick IX, son of Christian X. Luc was asking about Queen Alexandra's brother Frederick.

(Frederick IX was pretty heavily tattooed indeed.)

Oh...him. He was called "Freddy was the pretty face" and indeed quite handsome. He was to be married to Queen Victoria daughter Helena, but she said "one from "that" family was enough !". He managed to capture the attention of Princess Lovisa of Sweden (a rich heiress) and married her. He was not close to his elder sisters (Dagmar & Alexandra).
