The influence of the Forum on the AP restorations
« on: March 02, 2012, 05:12:16 AM »
I have been going through the old and new restoration photographs of the Alexander Palace, and am left wondering if this discussion forum, and its many members, who have contributed so much research and a wealth of information about this building over a number of years, has in any way directly influenced the Russian authorities to finally restore this Palace ?

There has not really been an influence to restore the Palace, but there has been and is assistance with the restoration.

У меня знакомый Юрок ложил дымоходы во дворце, не дали сделать как надо. Всё давай быстрей, он был злой, даже бесплатно переделать не дали ...

I knew Hurok would put chimneys in the palace, not allowed to do it right. All come quickly, he was angry, even free of charge not allowed to alter ...

Thank you for  those photos. I've never seen that one of the garden before ! The 2nd one, of Nicholas and his daughters  seems to have always been doctored, that is the girls features have been gone over with a pencil or something. One never sees it without this augmentation  and now I know why. It started its printed life in that manner.
