i don't think they would have committed suicide, moreover because they would have deeply believed that after death they would have been reunited anyway, so therefore suicide would have only been commiting a sin for no  reason. i think they are the most romantic couple in history. theres something about their story that is very captivatiing to a point, and its just something about the whole thing that makes you know that their love ran deep. i don't think nicky would have re married. i don't know why, but something just makes me think that he wouldn't.

also in books etc, when forming characters they say that you can't make them overly lovy dovy, it has to be realistic and add a few quarrels, this appears to be no exception. i was reading a book- i think it was called "faberge eggs" and it showed an egg...i can't remember what it was now, i'll look in a bit, and said in the caption "broken during a marital argument" and this hilarious image of alix launchuing a faberge egg across the room and nicky dive bombing behind a desk popped into my head and i couldn't stop laughing somehow i couldn't imagine them rowing over leaving odd socks all over the place :), so i looked it up, and i found this snippet of information  that said something about the egg being broken during a, what i think was described as "an emotional outburst" over alexei. wandered if anyone knew anything about this?

but yes, history's no. 1 love story.

Attention "TunaEars" and Post #45:   You are incorrect in relating the damage done to a Faberge egg by linking the cause to the Emperor Nicholas II of Russia and his spouse!  I would certainly like to know your documented source from which you derived SPECIFICALLY the involvment of an argument between Their Majesties that caused such!
Since you asked for further information: The egg in question is the "Rosebud Egg." It was SAID to be damaged by the then owner, Henry Talbot de Vere Clifton. Quoting from the volume, "The Art of Carl Faberge," by Alexander von Solodkoff, page 37, ISBN 0-517-57124-2:  "Rumor had it that Clifton has thrown it at his wife, the former Lillian Lowell."
The Rosebud is dated 1895.  I have seen the egg personally at close range on several occasions, and if you know what to look for, you can see the repair to the enamel.  Such inaccurately-recalled information as to the effect that the Imperial couple damaged it during a row over the Heir is how FALSE information begins through such posted garbled (" so I looked it up, and I found this snippet of information....." ) interpretation and potentially leaving impressionable readers to believe as true.
This is a very good example/rejoiner to the whining complaint of another poster (when called to task to back up a statement on another thread) who wanted to know (paraphrased): "Why do we have to document everything we post?" The simple answer, of course, is "For accuracy!"   Regards,  AP.

thanks for the correction! it didn't sound very like alix to hurl a faberge egg at someone! the book wasn't obviously very clear. i looked it up on my bookshelf after posting and yes, it said "damaged after a marital argument", which i obviously took in the wrong context, i can't remember where i looked it up online, obviously someone else made the same mistake......
thanks for the correction anyway!

Nicholas and Alix (Alexandra), they were truly a match made in heaven. In some reenactments I see, when they gather the family into the basement and read their death sentence, Nicholas tries to shield Alexi and Alix, which I think is the most romantic way to die protecting your love and family.
