Do you have any more information on these books, Teddy? Such as who is the translator/editor, and whether the diaries have been abridged? Compared to my other versions of AF & NII's 1917-18 diaries, the page count on these volumes is quite small, which makes me wonder if all the original entries are included.

Dear Sarushka,

The book has been done by a certain dr. S. de Angelis. It are paperback books, with some photos. The books are 21 by 28 centimeters. As far I know these versions are not abridged. And 100 pages. I think that is pretty much. On every page about 3 or 4 diary entries, with footnotes.

I'm hoping these books will be available at Librarie Galignani in Paris - they have tons of royalty themed books and there were so many on the
Romanovs that I hadn't seen before!

I'll be there in September, so I'll definitely be looking for these - thanks for the information on them!

I received my copy of Tsar Nicholas II's 1917-1918 diaries translated by Stephen R. de Angelis earlier this week.
The diaries are unabridged, as far as I can see. Due to the relative large page size, one page covers the entries of approximately one week, which explains the relatively small page count.  
I compared the translations of some entries with the Russian originals, as published in the 1991 Orbita edition, and think the translation is fine.

The translation is indeed fine. We must be glad that someone has translated them in English, for those who cant read Russian.

  I have had the opportunity to speak a couple of times with Stephen de Angelis, a fine, courteous and VERY knowledgeable gentleman.
  He attended the burial (and subsequent ceremonies) of the Empress Dowager at the Cathedral in the Fortress of SS. Peter and Paul.         AP.

Is the 1917 diary of the Empress unabridged? I've only seen parts of it in a Russian book before.
