I don't mean to be repetitive, but I, too, agree that that photo was Ella... however, it's interesting how sometimes it is difficult to tell even though they seem to look so different to us -- one an acknowledged international beauty, and the other a private person as we know, known to her family for myriad of other attributes...beauty not necessarily being one of them!!!!
So long and thanks for all the fish

That is Ella. The one below is Victoria:

so you can see Victoria have bigger eyes than Ella. if you look at the pics of the both , than you can see it.

Can it be that Ella has longer hair than Victoria ?? on the pics you can see ella has more hair.

but i think all of the four hesse princess has full  and long hair.

I don't know about longer, but I do know that Ella's hair was thick, so that's probably why it looks like she has more hair than Victoria.

RE: ELM GROVE ESTATE.

The house was used as a magistrates court until the 1990's when it was then let out from the council.  The company who took over the lease in the 1990s (and are still there now) are Stagecoach Theatre Arts plc.  I know this because I work there!  We have a ghost in the bulding who we nickname 'Geoffery'.  We believe that he was a court offical who died when the building caught fire.  He was trapped in a room when the door slammed shut and he couldn't get out.

Hi Svetabel - tthere are posts about Elm Grove early in the thread. It seems to have been merged from several older ones; I even remember it as I was on the thread first time round (one of the few other people here who has seen Elm Grove, I think!)

I had wondered where the topic came from as well. This might be a good time for a general reminder about using the quote box when referencing a previous post--especially if it's from a good while ago. That also puts a date on it so anyone interested can refer back to the original discussions.

It is interesting that they claim that both Ella & VMH looked like Charley The Brat (Princess Charlotte of Saxe-Meiningen).

I have read Marlene's piece in Royal Musings and nowhere do I see a reference to "Charley The Brat". Must you show off by demeaning Princess Charlotte, making her a figure of fun, ridiculing her in this way?

Please give me a source for your choice of address; I'd like to know why you think it's perfectly okay to use humiliating 'nick-names' for various Royal personages. I find this one particularly offensive, and I think perhaps you should spend some time contemplating "the pot calling the kettle black".

References please!

I don't care for the overly familiar use of nicknames myself (though I am guilty of the use of some for very common names) but Charley the Brat was a nickname that Charlotte used herself--signing it on several pictures. So while you might not like Eric's use of the nickname, it isn't one he made up himself to make Charlotte an object of ridicule.

The article does make reference to Charlotte: "They bear a "striking resemblance to their aunt, Princess Beatrice, and still more to their cousin, Princess Charlotte, eldest daughter of the German Crown Prince." Charlotte, who is married to the Hereditary Grand Duchess of Saxe-Meiningen, arrived in Darmstadt last night with her father, "to witness a ceremony in which she herself was not so very long ago the main actor.""

Thanks grandduchessella ! Indeed Charlotte  siogned her name as such. Maybe she throught of it as a joke herself ?

Charlotte was viewed as the beauty in Vicky's family, so both VMH and Ella being resembling her must be a compliment to both girls. I don't know how close Charlotte personally was to VMH or Ellla. However there are quite a lot of pictures taken of Charlotte with Irene, especially during the early days on her engagement to Henry.
