poem for Olga Nicholaievna
« on: January 14, 2005, 05:17:24 AM »

                  The Other End Of The World

       You were the first named of four
       and a boy who bore the ancient curse
       of his Mother's blood;
       you delighted in the world within,even
       in your watercolors you were dreaming,-
       and then there were saints,ikons
       and angels,...always angels;
       you loved Papa the most,like him
       you loved and felt deeply
       and like him you retreated
       and the meek shall inherit the earth
       but it all ended in a gunblast;
       now,your bones buried at last
       it is still Papa you look at
       because you saw him cry many times
       but always on the inside,...

                         for Olga Nicholaievna

         Born :) 1895             Died :'( 1918

That is very touching, aligertz. I like the last lines especially. Do you have others?

What a terrific poem. I bet it would have touched Olga herself.

Beautiful poem. Thank you for sharing it. :)
She stepped away from me and she moved through the fair,
And fondly I watched her move here and move there,
Then she went her way homeward with one star awake,
As the swan in the evening moves over the lake.

dear friends all
i warmly and respectfully thank all you thoughtful wonderful people who posted praise for my humble poem.After Alix,Olga was the other Romanov who left a deep impression on me,-her piety,empathy,kindness,and loyalty are the REAL 'family values'.
Ive written since childhood but the fact is 10,000 of my poems would still not equal one line by Pushkin.but Olga herself was a talented poet.follow Janet Whitcomb's thread for more insight into Olga's verse.
God Bless All of You once again!

Oh, aligertz, this poem is a gorgeous piece of true art, and it captures Olga's spirit beautifully.  I wrote poetry for OTMAA and Nicky and Alix too, when I was in high school.  I'm having trouble finding them right now, but when I do, I'll post them.  You've really inspired me.  Thank you for sharing this fantastic poem.  Olga and her family would be touched, I'm sure!!!!!

Beautiful, simply beautiful.
          Have seen the poem by A.V. Hendrikova that was dedicated to Olga and Tatiana?  It's not as striking but it is nice.

Hi ;

Maj. Jesse Carnes here.
I found an Acrostic poem concerning OTMA and i wanted
to post it, but I am not sure where to post it.  IF I am in the wrong place, to add this acrostic, please re-direct me and I will RE-Post it.    My deepest apologies to the Forum, due that it was in all-caps.    ---j

NOTE :  I have removed the acrostic poem to OTMA--I sensed that it did not minister effectively.  Some poems are more poignant than others, and some are even classics.  Such was not this case.

humbly ;

---Jesse

That only proves that we are interacting with real people. It doesn't matter if we didn't feel it as long as we didn't fake it. We share different opinions and must be open to accept it. ;D

It doesn't really appeal to me either, but anybody who posts poetry about Olga gets some credit in my book, anyway. And having different opinions is positive, because it does indeed show that we are real people with different opinions.
