Ditto.
It does point out that to be a successful twentieth/twenty first century monarch you must be mindful of the people you rule (or, more accurately, embody) and, more importantly, you must be able to communicate with them directly (or, at least, to establish a personal link), something that, alas, NI and AF didn't and probably were unable to do (whether by tradition, personality or personal conviction). Interestingly, Queen Elizabeth had her own moment of crisis with the handling of the death of Princess Diana, which was superbly portrayed by Helen Mirren (ironically, perhaps, she of Russian extraction) in The Queen.
