Yeah being around 16/17 at the time, and a boy, the movie had little appeal to me also, but there was something more. Unlike everyone else I know at that point, aside from my parents, I seemed to be the only one aware of that fact that Anastasia did NOT survive and that they were creating an exaggerated story from the tale of an imposter claim. I had already learned the basic story of the Romanovs several years early. I read Massie's book, borrowed from my mom, for summer reading heading into 7th grade (I think) and managed to navigate through all of the big words that I didn't understand :-)
Back to Lincoln...I remember you mentioning the O'Reilly book. Did he make a point of using the term "Oval Office" to combat that perception that so much of his time was said to have been spent living in the soldier's home, and working 20 hour days? Anything else surprising or enlightening? I'm generally alright with O'Reilly. If there were more of him and less Beck's and Limbaugh's political discourse would be better.
