All my photos of Anna Vyrubova's house were taken this year July 2012. It is the first time I have seen the house. The plaques by the door are definitely about when its open. Maybe its used by another department now but I was told by someone at TS this year thats its used for weddings. Definitely nobody lives there now.

About Anna Vyrubova's house.  I went to Tsarskoe Selo armed with a printed picture of the house but not sure where it is. Firstly I asked a man and a youth who were painting railings and they told me its round the corner by the restaurant. When I reached the restuarant the owner was walking about and I asked him too.
He actually took me to it and all three told me its used as a Registry Office for weddings.  If they have moved the Registry Office it must be very recent but the signs by the door which you can see in the photograph are about its open hours for the weddings.
I went to Russia on 3rd July and TS was the first stop on my itinerary and I was there within a day or two of that. I spent several days making repeated train journeys there.
Remember this is Russia; it could be another six months before the signs are removed!!
I went to a lot of trouble seeking out places of Romanov interest for myself and to share with you. Not many people would be that considerate.

About Ella and Serge's palace, Alan says, "Here are two shots of the Palace on Nevsky Prospekt and beside the Anichkov Bridge. The fire damage in the roof earlier this year was not evident."

"This picture is of the home of Grand Duke Mikhail at 12 Millionaires Street in St Petersburg. It was here that he rejected the crown and thus bringing to an end the rule by the Romanovs. He did not live in the whole house but had an apartment on the fourth floor. This is the level below the uppermost one. For clarification, we in England call the floor at street level the ground floor and the one above it is the first floor. Some countries call the floor at street level the first floor for some reason."

Alan, thank you so much for posting these wonderful pictures.  I had not seen such detailed photos of the kitchen building or garage.  The pictures of Anna Vyrubova's house cause me to marvel at Nicholas & Alexandra calling regularly on such a tiny home.  Imagining them with legs drawn up onto the sofas with feet tucked in to escape the chill of the floor makes them seem so real.

Three more wonderful photos! Thank you! What is Ella and Serge's palace used for these days?

Thanks emmylee, thats just what I needed! Isn't there also another house in Tsarskoe Selo that is exactly like Anna's?  I have another request...Does anyone have a picture taken from Anna V. house looking towards the Alexander Palace?  I have never been able to visualize the distance between the two.

pastpalacelife, if you have Google Earth downloaded you can locate the house easily.   It's on the NW corner of the intersection of Tserkovnaya and Srednyaya.  Go into "street level" mode and you can see three sides of the house.   I just measured the distance to the AP gate - approx. 310 yards by street.

I believe I've circled the right house. Does anyone know if the buildings between Anna's house and the palace were present back when Anna lived there? Also, who might have lived in them?

Thanks for the location of Anna's house! I have been wondering what it was located exactly in the town.

What is that house in the AP grounds on the screencap that EmmyLee posted by the way? The one with the white roof?

That building is the kitchen for the Alexander Palace. I've always been curious as to what is stored in there or what the building is used for now.
