Queen Elizabeth II has now clocked up 70 years on the throne.

Only Louis XIV, the Sun King of France, had a longer reign (72 years).

The new king has declared his regnal name to be Charles III. This has raised eyebrows in some Scottish circles, as the title "Charles III" was assumed by Prince Charles Edward, the Young Pretender, aka Bonnie Prince Charlie, who did have some rights to the throne, being the grandson of the deposed monarch James II.
