I do hope he is alright.  I know he made gaffs,  but he is well regarded and loved by
the UK at large.

I think its the gaffes that make him popular :-)

On his public appearances over here he is regularly greeted with shouts of, 'Good old Phil!'

This was on tumblr so I don't know where or when the quote originated:

"“She is the only thing in this world which is absolutely real to me and my ambition is to weld the two of us into a new combined existence that will not only be able to withstand the shocks directed at us but will also have a positive existence for the good.” -Prince Philip."

Very romantic! And Phillip isn't one that doesn't take easily to compliments as the Queen herself said.

Quote
(he) is someone who doesn’t take easily to compliments but he has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years and I, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim, or we shall ever know.

He looked wonderful in the photos I saw of him. Now let's hope he truly rests for the next few months!

That's great news! I'm sure he'll get a good rest period and be back to work in no time.

Looking dapper--even in surgical socks--as he left the hospital

"Prince Philip left hospital clutching the Crucible of War by Fred Anderson (left), considered a masterpiece by academics and reviewers. The book, first published in 2000, tells how during the Seven Years' War, Great Britain decisively eliminated French power north of the Caribbean. Mr Anderson also says this profoundly changed the political and cultural landscape of North America, as the British influenced the first US President George Washington and others like him. Anderson also argues that men like Washington also worked hard to understand Britain's strengths and weaknesses, particularly militarily, which allowed America to successfully battle them and win later."

Just been watching the 2nd episond of the 2nd season of ''The Crown'', maybe someone could help me, was it me or that reporter mentioned somewhat of a grandfather shot at?
'' It used to be all girls without clothes. Now it’s all clothes with no girls. Pity.''
