Aloha.....

I am so very, very sad to hear of Robert's passing here.  He was a wonderful, kind person to me.

While I only knew him thru our interactions here on the AP site and thru our postcards back and forth - he was invariably lovely and helpful to me always thru the years and even sent me a wonderful audiobook to have on my looong first flight to Europe back in 2010 - I always sent him postcards from Paris and he would send them to me from England.  I still have them and will treasure them now even more.

I personally feel as if I have lost a good friend - he was unfailingly kind to me and I know he was a fellow animal lover as well.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his life partner and his kitties......he will leave a very, very big spot that can't be filled here on the AP site, as well as in many of our hearts.

Aloha ia 'oe Robert - Ke Akua Pu.........

I was looking through some of my old PMs (unlike AlixZ, I am terrible at getting rid of them and have waaay to many going back years) from Robert. He did have so many fun stories about his travels and all. We were last discussing good ways to store old bound volumes. He had a complete collection of the Illustrated London News which made me pea-green with envy! :)  He always was on hand for a good suggestion or tidbit of information--he knew about a lot of different topics. One thing that stood out to me in one of the later PMs was the 20th anniversary greetings he sent me this past June. He said Bob and I were just babies as he and Randy had over 40 years together. So marvelous in this day and age but my heart just goes out to Randy at losing his life's partner of so many years. Thankfully, he will have so many memories of their times together but it's still just heartbreaking. They were together a long time but neither was what one would consider 'old' and should've had many more happy years together filled with adventures.

I'm going to miss debating him.  Although at times it seemed we were on different wavelengths (especially our views on Communism and such), I did enjoy them.

One thing Robert and I did agree on, our love of cats.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Robert's passing.  Many already described him well here as informative, witty and one of their favorite posters.  I heartily concur.

My condolences to his loved ones.

RIP Robert

(edit)  Tho I'm terribly saddened, reading thru these comments brought a smile to my face when I realized how many here had communicated w/ him by pm.  It seems he had a very voluminous correspondence.  And all w/ people who held him in high regard, sometimes (like in my case) whether they disagreed or not.  We are all poorer here for his loss.

This is a great loss to AP. I'm very sad to learn I won't be reading Mr. Hall's  excellent posts any more. His knowledge, kindness and yes , pepperness , will be  sorely missed . He was an AP  titian imo.  So one can imagine the  loss to family and friends. I am so very sorry

He will be much missed around here, and I am sure in many other places.  I always enjoyed his intelligent and reasoned posts.  My condolences to his family and friends.

I've always saved all PM's,from the start...from everybody,so also including all of Robert's,and there have been so many to and fro's over the years.
I will treasure them.

Oh my!   I am so very sad to hear this news!  Robert was one of my favorites here.  I loved it when he chimed in on a topic as his opinion was always so interesting.  He has shown me a new perspective on a variety of subjects.  And I absolutely adored the way he just told it like it was!

My condolences to his partner and all his family and friends.  He was truly a one of a kind person.
