I really cannot add anything to what has already been said. I always enjoyed Robert's contributions and the Forum will not be the same without him.

I will be thinking of Randy and the rest of Robert's family.

I am very saddened by this. He was a real asset to this forum, and as a friend.

I don't post on here much anymore, but when I did a few years ago, I thought Robert Hall's posts in discussions were interesting and he knew a lot. He contributed much to the forum. I'm sorry to hear about this.

I am in shock. Robert was the best and kindest and nicest man I have ever met.

I only spoke to him a few weeks ago and he told me that he was getting better.

I have tears rolling down my cheeks.

My thoughts and prayers go to Randy his life partner.

Rest In Peace, Robert, I will miss our 3AM conversations. But more than that I will miss you forever

R.I.P Robert.  I was just speaking to him here on the board not too long ago.  My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Many have asked what happened and how.

I only spoke with him a few weeks ago but he was so very private I am not sure that it would be appropriate for me to post the details of his illness and what I knew of his last few months. There are others here who probably know more than I.

What I didn't know was that he was so very ill again. As I said earlier, he had told me just a few weeks ago that he thought he was getting better.

Unfortunately, I don't keep my PMs on the forum, both sent and received, for months and months so what I might have missed in his messages is long gone. I think that he may not have wanted us to know how sick he was or that he was just full of hope for his recovery as many who are gravely ill can be.

About his age. I am not sure exactly, but he and I were "of an age" and so I know that he was in his 60s. I think that to be very young from my perspective anyway.

He did have a rich full life. He travelled all over Europe and had been to Russia many times. He had a library of over 5,000 volumes. He loved animals and had a cat rescue project on his property. His cats were named Lenin and Trotsky (at least the last time we talked about it) and others in the same cat-agory.

He was a man who gave much. He was taken far too soon.

 :( :o :'(

As Larry said, we saw Robert last at Trader Vic's in Emeryville three years ago.

Robert did not suffer fools gladly, but at the same time had a warm and generous spirit.

Jeff and I extend our sympathies to his beloved Randy, we are very sorry for your loss. Doubtless his friends will find what comfort we can from each other.

I don't like being reminded that none of us make it out of here alive! We are poorer for his absence and if there is a place where we all go in the great beyond, I am ready to see him again in the Royal History section with his lovely kitties by his side.
