I hope she comes back as well. The leaving was very abrupt and I don't think well-done of someone entrusted to be a moderator. So I have mixed feelings there. However, I have known and liked her very much her for some years and, despite our differences on some of the open threads, find her a kind and well-meaning person whose feelings were injured. I hope she will take advantage of the cooling off period the FA left for her and decide to come back. She has been a valued member here for some time.

That's a shame. I agree, I hope she comes back too, I definitely found her opinions and posts a good read.

I've spoken with her outside of the AP and can relay to those of you interested that she has been very busy dealing with some family matters recently. She appreciates those of you that have taken notice of her absence. Although I'm not sure where she stands right now with the forum and it's really not my place to ask. I am hoping as well that she chooses to rejoin. Sometimes people simply need a break.

Alright well I have an update from Alixz having been in touch with her recently. She send her regards to all. She wrote this and asked me to post it for her...

Dear Forum Members & Friends,

I didn't leave the APF because my feelings were hurt. As FA knows, I have been thinking of leaving for a while and this past week seemed to be as good a time as any. I am very busy with my 90 year old Mother who had surgery for a broken hip just after having prior surgery for a compression fracture of her spine. My son is in the process of moving out as he finds a job that can support him. I don't usually talk about personal matters but I, myself has been ill for a long time now and I think I need to put my priorities in order. My husband and I are planning several trips this year. We will be married 30 years in November and along with shorter trips, we hope to go back to Bermuda where we celebrated our Honeymoon.

Robert Hall's death has hit me very hard. We were "of an age" and had much in common besides the forum and spent a lot of time talking outside the forum. Robert would often send me books as gifts when he came across one he thought I would enjoy or when he bought one that he found he had no interest in. The last book he sent was "Matilda The Wife of William the Conqueror". I had hoped to finally meet Robert this year, but it wasn't meant to be.

After being a member of the forum for almost 9 years, I will miss those friends that I have made and those with whom I communicate outside of the forum already know how much I appreciate them and the times we have spent talking and emailing.

My leaving might have seemed precipitous, but it was the Discussion Forum thread on the Newtown Shooting that gave me the final "push" to make up my mind and make a choice. We have all heard how our lives are like a train in motion with many stops along the way as it is a local and not an express. At each stop, someone may get on but someone else may get off. Very few stay for the whole ride to the terminus. I chose to get off the APF train at the last stop. I had ridden long enough and it was time to go.

After reading that, I can definitely understand why Alixz left and I wish her all the very best.

A good idea to start an own thread for this topic, so we can make up our minds about lost forum members and speculate about them.

By the way, has anybody heard of Greenowl? Wonder what happened to her.

GREENOWL is alive and well and was touched that you remembered her! Thanks ever so much. Actually from mid-2009 I had a lot of family problems, after which I became ill and was in hospital in 2010, but made a good recovery and am now doing well. As my main area of interest was the Habsburgs, the death of Archduke Otto and his two remaining brothers seemed to make me devote less time to the forum, and then when I tried to log on again recently I found that I had forgotten my password. However, Rob very kindly helped me and here I am again. I doubt that I will be as active as in the past, but at least I am back on board!
Greetings to all from the south west of Germany!
