You missed a lot of spam, but thankfully that has now been cleaned up. It would be nice to get the forum back on track with its core users.

Looks like a lot of the spam is back. I would love to see the forum become active again. I'm working on a research project, and the collaboration of this amazing group would be so helpful.

Sadly, I don't think we'll be seeing our Russian members anymore, since Russia is now cut off from the outside (shades of North Korea). 

Never thought I'd see the bad old days, when the West and Russia were enemies, return, but here they are

I'm interested! There used to be a lot of resources here that are now, unfortunately over the years, broken links. Now attempting to do my own research, I'd love to see the kind of collaboration that used to be here when I was just a "noob".

It would be nice to see this forum return to the glory days of the first decade of this century, but I'm afraid that might not be possible.

For one thing, this site enjoyed cooperation and access to Russia.   That is no longer possible.  Like it or not, we're back to the Cold War era.  And even if Putin died or was deposed tomorrow, it will probably take years, if not decades, to rebuild the bridges he blew to smithereens.

Secondly, the rise of Social Media sites, like Facebook and Twitter, have made forums like this outdated and redundant.  You'll find more people on Social Media than you will here. 

Finally, a lot of the people that made this site hum just aren't around anymore.  For whatever reasons, they just moved on.

So, while it would be nice to see this place thrive again, I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I think you're right, Tim. The social media sites have successfully usurped this type of discussion and interest-groups. Personally, I so loathe the social media sites and their control on dialogue, that those who also don't engage with social media are without access to much in the way of discussion groups.

I hope everyone who provided such insight and enjoyment to this site several years ago are still alive and healthy and happily pursuing their lives.

I still poke my head in from time to time. I've been mining for information for a writing project. There's still a lot of great info buried in here, even if half the links are now dead. If anyone's interested, there's still a lot of Romanov posts and whatnot on sites like Instagram, Pinterest, and Tumblr.

It seems like forever since I was last here, not that I had much of a profile on the forum to start with.  I don't do much with the Romanovs these days except pinterist. Its a pity all the wonderful old photos on this site vanished with the old servers we used to use for photos. Hopefully the Russian site members will be able to come back once the current insanity is over and done with.
