Hopefully the Russian site members will be able to come back once the current insanity is over and done with.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's gonna be that easy.  Even if Putin dropped dead today, there is no guarantee that whomever replaces him will be any better.

It would be like Hitler dropping dead, before the war.  The person most likely to have taken over would have been Hess or Goering, both die hard Nazis.  In other words, more of the same.

It will be years, if not decades, before relations between Russia and the West return to what they were just a few years ago.

They've made a mess of things for sure - or Putin has. He really seems to think he's another Czar and has to have his war to prove it. It will achieve nothing good.

Yeah, that's the whole problem.  Putin sees himself as a 21st Century Tsar and is on this quixotic quest to restore the Russian Empire.  He actually thought his troops would be welcome with open arms in Kiev.

Well, this little "special military operation" (looks like a war to me) has cost the lives of hundreds and thousands of Russian soldiers.  And, of course, decades of bridge building with the world has been wiped out.

Is it worth it, Vlad?

It's unfortunate this forum is not posted to much anymore. I am also a member of a true crime forum and it is still a very busy place so even today with so many social media sites, forums can still thrive. What does it mean when someone has "Guest" under their name? Does that mean they haven't logged in for a certain amount of time? Their posts then can't all be seen by clicking on their name. I really posted all I had to say here at one time, and also I got more involved in other interests of mine, but I've always remembered this forum fondly.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. It's a pity that it's been in decline for so long, and I'm surprised by how active it was back in the 2000s. Nowadays there are multiple sites discussing the Romanovs, such as tumblr blogs, facebook groups, reddit and one discord (none of them are very active, either) but this forum still is by far the place with the best format and the one that contains most information.

I managed to sign up after sending an email to the admin, asking for my registration approval, since it's not automatic. He approved my user, but now I see that new registrations are disabled:
Sorry, registration is currently disabled.

I don't know if this is intended or an error. Either way, it seems that the forum won't recover some activity any time soon

There are still members here who would like to discuss Romanov topics despite the sanctions applied to Russia. I just went back to look at the previous page of this topic and there are some people here who don't enjoy using social media. Do you have something to talk about?

Welcome, Sunifred.  As long as there are people here willing to discuss the Romanovs, Russian history and European royalty, the forum shall never die.

I wonder if there will be new members here as this forum is a treasure trove of all things Romanov and even of other royal/imperial families. I also miss those old days, but not sure if they'd come back. I talked to many people through the years I was inactive here, and I haven't met anyone who has taken interest with Romanovs (here in my Asian country). They consider this as "niche". Ah great to see you all here who are familiar names. Wishing everyone a wonderful life despite things!

Unfortunately, new user registrations have been closed for some reason. And before that, registrations weren't being approved.

I recently discovered that there's a surprising amount of Romanov related content on TikTok. Of course, it's not the same, since you can hardly have any discussions there, and on top of that there's plenty of inaccurate information, but it shows that there's an interest.

Outside of the English speaking platforms, I recommend regularly checking https://vk.com/lastromanovs for new materials coming from the Russian archives.

Hey Sunifred! I didn't know that member reg has been suspended here. Anyway, I think it's better than having spammers infiltrating us here I guess majority of new member registrations have been from those. I still hope you'd be able to enjoy scouring through the threads here.

Also thanks for that vk link! I have lost all the Romanov-related links I have compiled through the years!

Same here! This forum is still a great resource and could be even better if we could get it going again, with the newer information we have nowadays that could correct older, incorrect threads.
Well, the Chinese were only using a simple polyphoneticly grouped twenty square digit key, transposed from booster verdonic form, with multiple nulls.

I?m back. I posted here about 15 years ago under the username Joy0318. I?ve been mostly inactive for a long time but I still do check in from time to time to read posts. I wish the forum was as active as it was when I was a frequent poster but the discussions here are better than those on the other social networks like Facebook. I hope to find more time to post and enter into the great discussions about Russian history and my other interest?the Tudors.
