Hi, newbie here who needs some help. I have read the guidelines but wasn't exactly sure where to put this post, so I have put my question here. Please let me know if there is a better place, and sorry if my first post is a bit long.
I am searching for information about this naturalized (long deceased) US citizen who claimed to be a Russian Countess. And/or claimed her father was an aide at the court of Tsar Nicholas II. I cannot speak Russian and have got completely stuck, although I do know she was living in Richmond, Surrey, England from about 1923-1930, at the same time as members of the Yugoslavian aristocracy were living there, and there may be a connection. On the 8th line from the bottom of the page at this link, at 1d, you will see the family concerned who lived in White Lodge, Richmond, Surrey.
http://www.almanachdegotha.org/id42.htmlHer details are:
Anna Kupryanova/Kuprianova - Parsons, nee Shishkov/Shishkoff
Born; Yalta, Crimea, Russia, Feb 4, 1901.
Father; Stanislav Shishkoff, born Crimea. Father an aide at the court of Tsar Nicholas II?
She said she fled Russia/Bolshevik revolution in 1917, her first husband Alexander Kuprianoff says they married in Russia in 1918.
Married; Alexander Kuprianoff/Kupreyanoff in 1918. He was supposed to be a Count. Born April 13, 1894, Moscow.
Both ended up in the US, Anna with her son Roy Kuprianova in June, 1930, from Richmond, Surrey, England; Alexander arriving from Malapieratvirtsa or Groubenpole (Grubisno Polje?)Yugoslavia, in 1923.
They were divorced at some point and Anna went on to marry William Parsons of Long Island, NY, just after his wife mysteriously disappeared. Anna and her son had been the 'adopted' children of Mrs Parsons. Here's a link to that story, under the headline 'Society Heiress':
