What are descendants of the House of Romanov doing today?
« on: January 19, 2013, 04:25:49 AM »
I was just wondering if anyone had any information on what the descendants of the old Russian Imperial family are doing today? Do they lead normal lives? I presume they do not still live as a royal would... Any information would be greatly appreciated! I'm also looking into the Habsburgs and Hohenzollerns if anyone knows about their present day lives too! Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply. I would like to know roughly how many descendants exist today, where they live, what they do as jobs and just generally what their way of life is. For my research brief I will choose the most interesting and focus on them. The emphasis needs to be what they are doing TODAY. Hope that makes sense!

Wikipedia is a good place for you to start. All of the modern descendants are listed there.  Some are here in the US, some in Britain, France and Switzerland, mostly. Start with the descendants of GD Xenia and Olga, Dmitri Pavlovich (now Ilinsky), GD Nicholas Nicholaievich, essentially those who managed to escape...

Dan Willis wrote "The Romanovs in the 20th Century" which describes the approximately 50 Romanov collateral descendants alive today.

The correct title of this book is "Romanovs in the 21st Century" and it is available on amazon.com, but apparently only in a Kindle edition.

Sorry I got the title wrong! Dan Willis also wrote a book on the Hapsburgs today.
