Abdication of HM Queen Beatrix on april 30th 2013

I've book-marked that link just incase I am around to watch it. Should be an interesting day, I think!

Interesting too as the Dutch Royals have the next most interesting Enthronement after the British that is...Theirs is a Coronation
but ours is 2nd as none of the other Royal & Imperial Courts hold these Inauguration/Enthronement ceremonies like we do here.
Belgium has a Swearing-in ceremony in Parliament,as do Sweden & Norway & Spain.Denmark has the proclaiming of the new
Monarch and the death of the former from the balcony of Christiansborg Palace. All in all always due to to be mourned predecessors.
Not here, - (and, btw, not in Luxembourg either) .We change when everything is still ok healthwise and looking good for the previous
Monarchs who will be known by their former title of Prince/Princess after the Abdication.

At the Prinsenhof,Delft, once the residence of Prince Willem the Silent, and venue of his murder in 1584,an exhibition is opened on the
Heads of the House of Orange Nassau,From Willem to Willem,it holds portraits of the 7 Prince Stadtholders and the  -  almost - 7 Monarchs.

Yes, our one is a coronation over here. Obviously, the next coronation Great Britain will see is Prince Charles, then William's, then their child's coronation and so on....That reminds me, I Must try and find a DVD of the Queen's coronation! Our Coronations here usually happen in Westminster Abbey, and I think, followed by a Balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace.  I'm not sure how they honor the previous Monarch at a coronation actually as I've obviously never seen one, yet.

It's certainly interesting how the crowning of the next Dutch Monarch will be happening, as it is with all how the different countries do it. It's funny, I thought all countries have a straight forward Coronation like we do here in the UK, until now!

No,no other country does. And ours isn't called a Coronation either, but either an Enthronement or Inauguration, but, with only the Brits ahead in Pump and Circumstance.

This september will see a huge National farewell & thank you celebration for Queen Beatrix called;"Beatrix, with Heart and Soul" and it will be held at the AHOT Complex in Rotterdam, organised by theater mogul Joop van den Ende.

Wednesday april 10th will see the opening of the exhibition of pictures by top Royal Photographer Robin Utrecht at Soestdijk Palace;"The Royal House through the lens of Robin Utrecht"

Ah I understand now. It's certainly fascinating how it all works too!  Now i'm excited to see all the new heirs getting crowned so I can see the different ceremonies and how they are conducted.

None gets Crowned except Charles in due time. All others have abolished to have the Crown placed on their heads
and their ceremonies are called Enthronements and some have the Crown,Orb,Scepter,Sword of State,Royal Banner
and Constitution placed near to wear the Monarch takes the Oath on what we call the Credens Table, but it just sits
there, the Regalia are never used other then that.

You will see what I mean on april 30th ,but meanwhile have a peek here:

Meanwhile beautifull Duivenvoorde Castle re-opened its door after a renovation with an exhibition with the castles links with the House of Orange.

Thanks for the link of that website, I will take a look at it! Ahhhh, that's interesting they get the crown/orb/scepter, etc. placed nearby the Monarch while the oath is being taken.

Still unsure which member of the BRF is going to the abidcation/Enthronement. Apparently, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall have engagements that day.

And thanks for the link. Will look now (What a beautiful looking palace!).

In an interview Rick Nieman and Mariëlle Tweebeke of RTL4 and NOS respectively had at Noordeinde Palace and that is to be aired this wednesday evening The Prince of Orange states;" I'm not a protocol fetisjist so people can address me as they wish if that makes them feel at ease"...To which Princess Máxima added:'Everybody calls me Máxima anyway,so Queen or Princess,it is what we stand for and represent rather then the title".

Wednesday evening,at 20.25PM Ned1.

Isn't it traditional for crowned monarchs NOT to attend each other's coronations/installations? I seem to recall reading that it's more usual for some other member of a royal family to represent their sovereign on such occasions.

That's correct Paul,it's always the Heirs and spares & spouses that will attend but never the Monarch.
As a rule a "new" Monarch first has to pay visits to his counterparts which will be what Willem-Alexander
and Máxima will be doing starting may 24th with an introduction visit in Luxembourg.and after the summer
the same to Belgium...for starters.

Till now the Crown Princely couples of Sweden,Belgium,Spain and Norway have announced their attendance
but the official guestlist will be made public the weekend of the 27th/28th.

Also, there will be quite a delegation from dear Argentina, the country of origin of Princess, soon Queen Máxima.
Vice-President Amado Boudou will represent Argentina accompanied by,ao,the Chair of the Senate of Argentina.

Press agencies as well as VorstenRoyale report that TIH Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako of Japan will both be in attendance.Would be marvellous as that would be the first official foreign visit by the Princess in 11 years but the IHA has no official announcemnet yet....The holiday here in The Netherlands some years ago on invitation of Queen Beatrix was a one only event is all these years.

This morning it was announced that Dutch Astronaut André Kuypers will be one of the two Kings of Weapons on april 30th and will escort the King to the Nieuwe Kerk and after the taking of the Oath by the King and the combined session of the States General will proclaim;"The King is Inaugurated".André Kuypers returned from space station ISS last year after staying there for 6 months.

The other King of Weapons is the retired former Commander of the Forces General Peter van Uhm,Adjutant Extraordinair of HM Queen Beatrix and now also honoured by the new Monarch. The day after General Peter van Uhm was installed as the new Commander of the Forces his son Dennis was killed in Afghanistan. He never wavered but remained staidfast and accepted that as a consequence of being part od the Forces.A truly remarkeble man indeed.

With the date nearing more exhibitions open, like the one at the Prinsenhof,Delft, last Residence of the First Prince Willem,The Taciturn or Silent,Patriae Patria. Also the venue for his murder in 1584.

The exhibition " From Willem to Willem" gives a good view on Prince Willem and the following Stadtholders & Monarchs.

Was a absolutely great interview last night!Very open and direct,to the point, and poignant when it touched the condition of his brother Friso. But all in all it was very well received by all political parties and whatever related experts as well as the population. An incredible 91 % has a huge confidence in Willem-Alexander as the new Monarch ands 93% thinks the same of the future Queen Máxima. As Princess Máxima emphisized last night that her husbands role will change, not hers,it will be business as usual for her adding that supporting her husband is evident.

Also the three children will be in attendance throughout the entire day, from the Abdication moment of their grandmother at exactly 10.14AM in the morning of april 30th,to the Enthronement ceremony as well as the Royal boat tour in the evening and the gala dinner for all the guests at the Muzeikgebouw aan 't IJ..A truly beautifull theater with a spectaculor view over the IJ River. The eldest,Amalia,is very aware that she will be next in line..And her first question to her dad was: "For how long will you be doing that job?"....grin...as if she could pull her still non-existent agenda...haha..

I will post more on the interview,as it 's absolutely worthwhile, any subject was ok,and no questions were put at their disposal beforehand, they wanted a real live interview, and, the result is just fantastic!
