Well, from her diary entries, it seems it was a romance but more of a 'quick to fall, quick to burn out' kind rather than the type that is truly meant to last. They got caught up in youthful infautation, he proposed, she accepted, it was an eminently acceptable match (and very desirable for her parents) of 2 well-connected, attractive royals. However, out of sight, out of mind--at least for Frederick. Olga wrote of how he was completely incommunicado for weeks. It didn't take long for both of them to fall out of 'love' with each other.

She did something before they broke up...she said in her diary entry that she hopes she was forgiven and that she was willing to try again,but he couldn't ...this "talk" lasted for 15 minutes and happened while she was staying in Paris.
