Very interesting!, in which palace these photos were taken?...in the first one I can see very clearly the two "cat eyes"...lights maybe, or the reflection of something?
In the second one, the "mysterious man" could be a lost tourist (as suggested by you), or maybe a vigilant or an employee of the palace...?...the "transparency" of the figure can indicate that the man (or woman) in question was moving at that moment...in fact I think he/she is walking...

EDIT: I think that she is a woman, If I'm not wrong I think that she is wearing a skirt...

both are from the hofburg in vienna.

but i dont think it is a lost tourist or something...cause on all the other photos you dont see tourist or any other person, i believe they made sure no one was standing in any of the rooms during the time these photos were taken..

i also have showed it to my sister in law and she says the second picture could be a woman like a servant back in the days..

the first photo..well..i dont know but if its an reflection..there should be mirrors behind but i only see a door opening behind the man

Oh yes sorry, I missed the first part of your post.

Again, about the first photo, now I think that it's not a reflection...lights maybe?, but from what?...surely not from a chandelier.

Second one: I have the habit of finding a rational explanation for everything...but I have to admit that now I don't know what to say  :)...this is the typical picture that makes me mad! - LOL!  ;) :)

I'm curious to know if there are "strange stories" about the Castle of Miramare, is not in Austria, it is here in Italy, precisely in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, near to Trieste (the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia was under the Austro-Ungharian domination).

In that castle the Archduke Maximilian lived for several years with his wife Charlotte of Belgium...here you can see a photo of the castle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CastelloMiramare.jpg

Since I live in Italy, it was very easy for me to find informations about the legends of the Castle of Miramare around the Italian web sites.

I repeat that I'm sceptic, I don't consider myself a "ghosts believer", although I find these stories interesting.

It is said that the ghost of Charlotte of Belgium is still in the castle, according to some testimonials in the castle you can hear the noise of footsteps and you can see lights that turns on and off mysteriously.

I have not yet found the full story but I found other informations that I will be happy to include here on this topic soon...from what I read, there are many legends about the castle.
For example, according to other testimonials, the ghost of Archduke Maximilian of Mexico was seen walking in the garden surrounding the castle...

In Trieste, Italy, there is a beautiful castle called Miramare Castle. The legend says that the castle has a curse. The curse was brought by the ancient Egyptian sphinx that sits outside the castle.

Unfortunately I don't know nothing about ghosts in the Palaces in Belgium where Charlotte lived, but I will try to find something.

Yes, I read about that "curse" on an Italian web site, but in that web site the "curse" was not attributed to the presence of the sphinx, there are probably several versions of this legend.

I had a holiday in May on Corfu and visited the Achillion Palace (on a"dreaded coach tour" although it wasn't too bad - the guide said she would buy the tickets to  "save the party waiting"  which she paid 4 Euros - we found out later the official admission was 3 Euros !!).

It was in a beautiful position and on quite a small scale as a Palace for Empress.  Very interesting and I agree, there were very few exhibits inside apparently the Palace had been stripped of the furniture and possessions during two wars.

Perhaps the coach party comment was not called for, some of them can be quite good. I hope you enjoyed corfu.
