I have One story in the book...well its small story..
Empress Zita has written it.. its about the white lady(der weiße frau von der hofburg) that comes when somebody of the imperial family dies.
she write (I'll Translate it) "on 30 August 1889 Elisabeth  (she is in caux in switserland on that moment)  is enjoying the cool night on the balkony. At midnight she saw in the park of the hotel the white lady very wanderin around very clearly and bright. she stares at her and then the white lady disappears. in the same year on 10th of September she was murdered in Geneve"

Another part of the book(again translated from german 2 english so sorry if there are some writing mistakes):
there is a special interesting story (that has been told by more than one people) and its about an acoustic ghost/phenomenon.
In one hall/salon in schönbrunn castle, at night seems to be a returning voice heared by persons of the imperial family and by the servants in the time of the monarchy.
strangely the nightly whispers and giggles is still heared in our republican days.
some of the people from "schönbrunn-Betriebs-Gesellschaft" have heared/wittnised these noisy but peacefull phenomenon.

In the book is a capitel about empress Elisabeth.. some small parts say she did pagan rituals and Voodoo magic.. because of that she carried with her alot of talismans because of the fear of the evil that could come from the "other side".
(in  a Other book i got a picture of what i believe are her Talismans i shall scan it one of these days)

There is also a capital in the book about archduke Johann Salvator.. he had done some séances with crownprince Rudolf, Archduke Eugen Dr. Widerhofer, Baron Hellenbach and more people..2 communicate with the spirits on the other side.. but i will translate that another time...if anybody is interested in that..

Later i will translate more and place it here

Thanks, Madame-Sisi! That was most interesting. I am really looking forward to hearing more, as while I am rather sceptical about the supernatural, I nevertheless find it fascinating. If you have any difficulty with translation from German to English send me a PM and I will help you if I can.

With regard to Crown Prince Rudolf and Archduke Johann Salvator: unlike Empress Elisabeth, both were opponents of spiritualism. In 1882 Crown Prince Rudolf published an anonymous 39 page brochure on the subject, in which he criticized the craze for spiritualism that was rampant among the nobility at that time. Two years later, he and Archduke Johann Salvator "unmasked" the famous medium Bastian in the course of a séance and revealed that he was nothing more than a common swindler and crook.

Interesting, there are many legends about paranormal acustic phenomena, for example (I'm sorry, it's not very pertinent to the Habsburgs) we have here in Italy a castle in the region of Emilia Romagna where, according to a legend, you can hear a mysterious voice of a child.

And also, I didn't know that Empress Elisabeth was so superstitious, and I didn't know that she has talismans, I descovered another side of her, thank you for the information Madame-Sisi!

I'm new to this forum, but you know that Maximilian and Charlotte lived in the Chapultepec Castle while in Mexico, and some say that they are used to seeing Charlotte searching for Maximilian in every corner of the castle until she gives up and sits on her bed. Others say that she plays the mexican national anthem on the piano, while others say that both she and Maximilian waltz every night.
It would be really interesting to hear something about the belgian palaces...

Well, I don't know if the hotel is haunted but I do know that the suite still exists, and still is open for guests too, and that every year at christmas a woman comes into the room. I've heard it is quite expensive to stay there and that only exclusive guests have acces to certain things that deal with the tragic event(Like the Eye-witness account of Fanny Mayer on the event and a dress of Sisi, likely the one she died in), but that others are displayed for Sisi-tourists - as those are called. I've read all this in a book called "In Sisi's traces", whioch travels throughout the world to visit places that once have seen the Empress. I think it is only available in Dutch, perhaps in German, up to this day. It has nice pictures in them, including one of the room she died in.

I'm Mexican as well and I was under the impression that it was some sort of oral story. There is a website that refers to, pretty much what I wrote, but it's in spanish. It is very "oficialistic" but I'll put it anyway:
http://www.redescolar.ilce.edu.mx/redescolar/publicaciones/publi_prodigios/bosq_chapul/leyenda.htm
I also read somewhere, about a year ago, that there was a story told by a night guard, that works near where Maximilian died, and he (the guard) said that one night, he heard a voice calling him from the bushes, you know the typical "psst" and when he aproached, he saw a bright figure and then he fainted. When the guard woke up the next day, one of his hands was clutched firmly, and inside it held a coin from the time of Maximilian. I don't know where I read it, but I'll search for the website.
About Sissi, I read on Brigitte Hamann's biography, that after they both passed away, she was very keen on speaking with Maximilian and her cousin Ludwig II. And so one day, while at the Kaisergruft she apparently heard little sounds. It may have been a product of her imagination, but still....
