Sokolov box
« on: March 06, 2013, 12:04:22 AM »
I have a question : The "Sokolov Box" contents were hidden in a RO church for quite some years , then "re-discovered" recently . Was it ever examined scientifically or have the RO church refused ?
I cannot seem to find the answer.

I think you have in mind the Sokolov box of " Romanov relics" immured in an Orthodox Church in Brussels. The box' existence there was no secret; the contents, however, were never scientifically investigated or publicly viewed. This was at the request/order of Church authorities for their own reasons, which have been respected.

Yes I'm confused - I've read of one which contained "the finger" & Botkins false teeth etc , and another which was shown to either Olga or Xenia ( not sure which ) and she refused to look inside......So which one was in the church wall ? And what happened to the other ?
Regards

It is the same one.  You are perhaps confusing the reliquary in New York containing a finger of Grand Duchess Elisabeth Feodorovna

I think there is some confusion as to what exactly is in the Box. Botkin's dentures have emerged in a recent exhibition, for example.
