Timeline of Their Last Day
« on: March 14, 2013, 08:10:47 PM »
I'm writing a story about the last day of the Romanovs, culminating in their deaths. I want to be as accurate as possible. I'm combing Fate of the Romanovs but that offers few specifics about July 16. So I'm turning to you, ye smart and generous fellow scholars, to help me cobble together a timeline of their last day. Any help whatsoever is appreciated.

I've got some general questions to start off with:
Was the 16 the day the grand duchesses washed their bedroom floor, or was that the 15?
Did they go outside on their last day? If Alexandra stayed in, which grand duchess sat with her?

Ack. Should have looked closer. They did walk in the garden, without Alexandra. First Olga sat with her, then Tatiana. At eleven o'clock Yurovsky inspected their room, then "bade them take their walk." So what time would that have been, approximately?

The floors were washed on 2/15 July.

Here's Alexandra's diary entry for 3/16 July:
Grey morning, later lovely sunshine. Baby has a slight cold. All went out 1/2 hour in the morning, Olga and I arranged our medicines.
3:00. Tatiana read Spir. Readings. They went out, Tatiana stayed with me and we read: Bk. of the Pr. Amos and Pr Obadiah. Tatted. Every morning the Command. comes to our rooms, at last after a week brought eggs again for Baby.
8:00. Supper.
Suddenly Leonka Sednyov was fetched to go & see his Uncle and flew off -- wonder whether its true & we shall see the boy back again!
Played bezique with Nicholas.
10:30. to bed. 15 degrees.

most likely the jewels of course. You have to wonder if they felt they would be moving soon
When moving from place to place, was  a tricky time  for the " medicines" and needed  extra care

Good point. Maybe they 'felt' something in the air.

Helen Rappaport's book on Ekaterinburg gives a day-by-day account of events, so you may find that useful.
