They had ways of altering photographs back then. Multiple photographs, particularly formal ones, have been retouched to take out Alix's drooping chin and to bring out lace in dresses, etc.

seems fairly rare...AN ,TN, ON and Nicholas 1916 on the Dnieper river. Anastasia has a silly expression on her face
