Need help with Kapnist family
« on: April 03, 2013, 09:55:27 AM »
Hi everyone!

I'm doing researches about the Ladies in waiting of Queen Elena of Italy, and, at moment I am focusing on Countess Maria Bruschi Falgari, born Maffei di Boglio.
The point is that her mother was Countess Dorothea Kapnist (or Capnist) daughter of Count Peter Kapnist.

I know that Countess Dorothea was born in 1839 in Russia (I read it in her grave) and died in 1923 in Italy. So her father must have been born approximately in 1800-1810.
The Kapnist as far as I could see were quite a famous family in Russia.

But I wasn't able to find anything about Count Peter.

Who was his father? and his mother? but the most important thing who did he marry??  Why was he in Turin in mid-19th century? I know this becouse hid daughter Dorothea married Count Maffei di Boglio in 1862.

THANKS in advance for any suggestions!

I looked through the Kapnist genealogy and didn't find any Petr Kapnist matching to your Petr Kapnist. As well as any Dorothea (or possibly Daria in Russian).  Was his name really Petr?

Thank you very much Sveta for your help!
His name should be Peter, but who knows really. Now I am waiting to have some papers from the Register office of the city of Turin where she died, maybe I'll find more...
Anyway her russian name was Daichinka. Is it a name or a nickname?
thanks again!

Daichinka is a nickname definitely, there's no such Russian name.

Also I've found that the Kapnist family is quite hyberbranched, they have Greek and Italian branches as well, so possibly your "Petr" was not exactly of a Russian origin/nationality.

I found some new papers and this is what I could find out:
Dachinka Capnist was the daughter of count Peter and countess ? D'Allonville.
She was born in Bremenschon which was in Russia in 1923 or at least this is what
The clerck wrote..it keeps on being a real mystery to me:(
Bremenschon doesn't sound russian at all.

What I found is:

Peter Mykolayovych Kapnist, Colonel in the Imperial Russian Guard, no noble title noted
married
Catherine d'Allonville,  born after 1804 in Russia
daughter of  Armand-Francois d'Allonville, Marquis d'Allonville,  and Countess Catherine de Munnich  (They were married in Russia in 1804)

Maybe it helps....
