Amelia Earhart resembles Tatiana??

This is kind of a silly post, but for a long time I thought that Amelia Earhart sort of resembles Tatiana, especially in certain pictures.  This is the picture where I first saw this resemblance, it was used in an ad for Apple computer several years ago (I think).



Is it my imagination or does anyone else see a strong resemblance here? (Please note: I am not trying to imply anything, like that maybe Amelia was the long lost Grand Duchess who learned how to fly airplanes and escaped that way, or anything like that    )

Thanks, Abby, yes in this picture you can really see it. Funny part, they were also exactly the same age, Amelia was born in July 1897, only about a month apart!

She would have made a great imperial claimant, don't you think? IMO, she has a lot more resemblance than any of the other claimants ever did. Just goes to show you that you can't go by looks alone!

Maybe Tatiana's "rescue" by aeroplane from Ekaterinburg inspired her to take up flying! She changed her name to Ameial Earhart, and then when the Soviets found out about it, they tracked her down and shot down her plane! (in between fighting UFOs)

Now, all I need is to find a publisher, a gullible public, some close up photos of Tatiana's and Amelia's ears which show 25 or so points of similarity, and handwriting analysis. And if Amelia didn't have that spikey stylised handwriting of Tatiana, I will just say that the trauma of her rescue affected her, and she was never able to write in the same way again. (But sometimes in her sleep she was seen to be writing in the same way Tatiana did). Off now to write my book about how Amelia Earhart and Tatiana Romanova were one and the same person!

I don't think they looked that much alike.  In some photographs at certain angles, maybe, but I think if you were to see them in real life, side by side, there would be an obvious difference.  Also, is the first picture of Tatiana touched up a bit?

Interestingly, Earhart herself, much like Tatiana and her sisters, was subject to "escape" or "survival" theories:

Shortly after the end of the war Jacqueline Cochran, a pilot and friend of Earhart, traveled to Japan to investigate the role of Japanese women in the hostilities. While there she claimed she'd discovered several files on Earhart which later disappeared. Later, in 1965, retired Air Force Major Joseph Gervias came to the conclusion that Cochran had actually discovered Earhart herself and smuggled her back into the U.S. There Earhart set up residence in New Jersey under a new name. The woman he named as Earhart denied Gervias' assertions.

New Jersey, no less!  

Over the decades, others have come forward with supposed proof that Earhart was captured by the Japanese and interned for a number of years before either perishing or being executed. A photograph supposedly of Earhart during her captivity exists, though skeptics have pointed out that it looks like it was taken at the same time as other photos shot before her final flight. Possibly the strangest suggestion is that Earhart was forced to make propaganda radio broadcasts as one of the many women known as Tokyo Rose.

This sounds all too familiar, doesn't it....

Yes, that's what I said too: "...Amelia Earhart sort of resembles Tatiana, especially in certain pictures..." I never saw either Tatiana, or Amelia, in real life, and certainly not side by side.  Have you?

That second one doesn't look like Tatiana at all.  But definitely your avatar pic and the pic that Abby posted are uncanny the way they resemble each other!

But I think that it could be true only at certain angles.  The one above the older age picture of AE isn't showing up on my computer.  Was it another young picture that showed the resemblance?
