Jewels of the non-Hohenzollern German houses

"This demi-parure may have been given as a gift to Princess Maria Immaculata of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (b.1844-1899), on the ocasion of her marriage to Karl Salvator, Archduke of Austria, Prince of Tuscany (b.1839-1892), in Rome in 1861. Thus bequested to their seventh child, Maria Immaculata Raineria, Archduchess of Austria (b.1878-1968), who married Robert, Duke of Württemberg (b.1873-1947) in Vienna in 1900; the couple was childless and the jewels remained in the family, thence by descent."

The "may have been" qualifier means that the true heritage of the piece is not for sure? It's a lovely design and garnets and diamonds, while not particularly high-end regal (should have been emeralds or rubies), it's quite nice and the color of the garnets looks spectacular.

good thread. the volume of jewelry passed around the German duchies, principlaities, and kingdoms surely amounted to a vast treasure that is hopefully documented.

I think the provenance is clear in that it is in the royal descendants but maybe they are not sure exactly how Marie Immaculata came to possess it originally.

And, yes, CH--I would love to have that parure. As I said, it's my birthstone. If my hubby bought it, I would promise to wear it every day. LOL
