A private Family photo album, almost certainly purloined from the Ipatiev House after the executions has been discovered in the vaults of a Museum in the Urals.

Aloha all!

SO exciting!!!  Isn't it just unreal how these photo albums are still being "found" and shared with us?

I for one, am particularly excited about the profile pictures of the Grand Duchesses....I can't remember where (documentary?) I saw a small, blurred photo of these profile pictures before, but these are large and clear and fabulous!!

Wonderful day to be a Romanov buff!

SO HAPPY that we finally got those profile pics in a clear format. We did see them a few years ago all blurry from a Russian news segment.

I remember when this was reported and those profile pics were blurry! Now we can see them clearer!

Some of the images from the news website were also posted in the Rare Images thread a few weeks ago... yet this is the first time I've seen the clear profile photos...
Are there more photos? When was the album "discovered"?
Also, do the State Archives now have possession of the album? Or who has it?

The album belongs to the Zlatoust City History Museum.

What wonderful photos.  The one of Alexei on the beach at Livadia is especially informative.  I've seen many pictures of IF members taken at the base of the long stone wall - this is the first picture I've seen taken from a distance and showing what is behind that wall.

Thanks for posting!

Small correction, if you allow, Sanochka -- that one was not taken at Livadia but at Evpatoria, Crimea, in May of 1916. There are bunch of them taken at the same day in Anastasia's album.

I have watched the Russian report on the album some time ago. It is great, of course.

That explains why the aerial pictures of Livadia and its shoreline I studied yesterday bore no relation to these shots.  I'd always thought the pics with the stone wall behind were taken at Livadia.  Thank you for clearing that up, Nena!
