I'm flabbergasted.   From the 1st floor plan, it looks like the doorway between Alexandra's Palisander and Maple Drawing Rooms is slated to be restored to its original position.  All I can say is WOW!  Thank you so much for posting.

I put the page into google translate, and it corresponds exactly to what Dr. Bott has told Bob about restoring the AP  back to exactly how it looked in 1917, using the opposite wing for special exhibits, cafe, lecture space and other guest services.

I'm sad because half the children will not be restored. They say that a little photo and materials recovery rooms.
When I was near the palace I saw that digging the ground.

I can't get your picture to open.  I am also very sad that the children's floor isn't going to be restored.  I am hoping maybe the people in charge will see the swell of interest in NII and family and change their minds.
Does anyone know what is happening to the grounds there at Alexandra's balcony and around to the semi circle balcony? It looks like it has been paved.

People. This is the FIRST part of restorations. The budget is limited. If you want to donate funds dedicated to an eventual restoration of the children's rooms that will soon be possible.  In meanwhile I suggest you be positive and supportive of  what work is now underway!

Better some than nothing. Don't you agree?  Mme Tarantinova and Dr Bott are dedicated, passionate and committed. They need support for what is finally happening and not grousing about what isn't yet being done

I certainly did not mean to infer any non-positive support.  I think the restoration of the palace is wonderful and exciting, that is the reason I have followed this board for years with great interest.

You wrote " I am hoping maybe the people in charge will see the swell of interest in NII and family and change their minds. ".  It seems you do not actually grasp that until VERY recently, the restoration plans were to destroy the Nicholas II appearance and return the AP to the original Quarenghi appearance!

The current Museum staff is HUGELY devoted to return the AP to the way it appeared the day that Nicholas II and family left for Tobolsk!  They don't need to "change their minds" about anything.

Why do you think they are working so closely with Bob on the restoration?

Ok. Fine. I really don't understand why I have upset you. It wasnt meant to criticize, just saying which parts of the palace I find interesting.  Nothing more.

Iraida Bott very good expert and professional, and she is very fond of the museum. I talked to her and she really wants to restore the Alexander Palace.
