I have looked at them more closely as well. And the sadness on their faces is so marked..
....now I'm wondering if it's from  captivity after they got well?

AN is far too mature looking for before the war imo and it's not just due to her hair being up

I lighted  contrast on  the group photo . Before I did so, I thought Marie's eyes were down cast.
But they are looking right  into the lens and I've never seen her so sad.  It's disturbing

Thank you ,  Sara Araújo  for that ID!

I hesitate to read too much into their expressions. To me it looks more like they're all trying to achieve the same dramatic effect.

They all look great, but one thing I've noticed after looking at these photos several times is that it appears AN is a little on the heavy side. Is it just me or do others see what I'm seeing? Unfortunately she must have been moving around and came out blurred in the group shot so it's harder to compare the two photos.

I didn't want to mention it but for the sake of dating these photos I think it's important to bring up. I believe I remember the Empress pointing out in one of her letters/diaries that AN had put on some pounds at one point much to her disappointment. Can anyone confirm this?

If I recall correctly that was in a letter Alexandra wrote to Anna Vyrubova from Tobolsk. Anastasia herself also mentioned it in a letter during the winter of 1917-18.

AN seems to have many layers on as well and her body is twisted a bit . Her hair is arranged like Olga's was in 1914  with little curls on the forehead and a band . interesting

In the group photo I think she may be shaking a cluster of little bells...which she is also  holding in her  solo photo.

Of course Olga has the famous white  fox sole from the balcony photos... she is very thin here. Look at that neck

Even if  playing a role, it's  uncharacteristic for at least the small pair to have not one gleam of of smile. They would  usually be too pleased taking a photo so garbed. imo

Looking at the photo of all 4 of them, MN looks far too young for it to be during captivity. I am guessing around 1914.

If it is indeed 1914 then Tatiana must be wearing a wig. Had her hair grown back more before they all got sick? I can't remember

I also remember something about Anastasia getting chubby and for some reason I keep thinking back to a picture of her standing outside the hospital and she looks a little on the chubby side. I don't have it on this laptop or I would post it. so another thought would be like 1916? Plus, Tatiana's hair is pinned back up by 1916 so maybe it was a lot longer by then? and I think Maria looks about right for 1916. but I could be wrong.

1916.

OTMA in costume

Sorry if these were already posted

A couple of fuzzy screen shots  from this series of   OTMA  in costume I have seen , but most here are new to me

" Astonishing beauty "  is all I can say  Really, I'm speechless.

But then, OTMA photos always speak for themselves  Usually I would post such finds on Alexander Palace Forum. directly
But Photo-bucket has "upgraded" and now it's much  harder to use,at least for me ...but more, one can't  get the
 full size posted from it

So I have deiced to create a post on my art blog so I may post these amazing photos on AP forum  in their full size as I have them
They  were sent to me by my good  friend, and follow Romanov  fan,   N N

 Thank you dear! <3

They are dreams come true if you ask me

They're beautiful photos of the girls! I'm speechless too.

Thanks for letting us know the original source, TatianaZ.  But I'm sure blessOTMA didn't mean any harm--people mark rare pictures all the time in order to keep the eBay sellers from trying to profit off them.
