To me, Konstantin Nikolaevich was the most interesting and admirable of Nicholas's children. Without his support, the rather impressionable and depressive Alexander would have been unable to achieve much at all.

What do people find interesting about Alexandra, who died at 19? I am not sure I could even describe her personality, beyond the rather stereotyped things her bereaved family recalled of her. But it's a genuine question...

Well, it's brilliant material for a story, with all its elements of romance and tragedy.  That's probably what attracts us to Alexandra.  I have done some pretty extensive research on her, and I can say she was a gentle, sweet-natured girl who was very well-loved by all who knew her.  You are right--she died so young that history has largely forgotten about her, which is sad in itself.

I have read your article on Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich, by the way, and it was a very well-written piece.
