Where I live in Canada, there are several museums that used to be homes of prominent Victorian Canadians. In their gift shops there are often copies of Victorian-era books about how to make a home, how to be a good wife/mother, etc etc. There are also often copies of diaries of the prominent people whose homes are now museums, and their families. Do you have such things where you live also? They may be a good resource.

No. I am from the Czech Republic. History books found in my country are from 90% about Habsburgs and WWII. There is not much interest in other topics, sadly.

Thank you both!

I need to ad that as a person from the Czech republic I am unable to buy or borrow the books here. So any reccomended literature should be possible to find on Amazon. Or if anyone would have a copy to spare, I´d be happy to purchase from you. Or if case you would decide to trust me and postal services, perhaps I could just borrow?

...

Any idea is "Queen Victoria's Grandchildren" by Lance Salway would be any good? What about "Queen Victoria's Granddaughters 1860-1918" by Christina Croft?

I would not recommend Salway's book at all.  He used a lot of material, even lifted a photo from my book for his book.   Doesn't your university use Interlibrary loan?

Thank you. I shall stay away from the book then.

My university library does borrow books from abroad, the disadvantage is I am not allowed to take the book with me. Also the lady that is in charge is really unpleasant for some reason :-P

Ally my darling сестра! When do you have to start writing your thesis? Which books do you have so far?

I seem to have bad luck with "Advice to my grand-daughter". Second time I wanted to order it a friend actually paid it for me as a gift - and it also never arrived. I don´t know what to do anymore.... Does any of you people have the book and would be willing to sell? :-(

I started yesterday as I finally am done with exams and have time, and I have quite a few books, but my main source i Lifetime passion and also The Four Graces are proving to be an excellent source and inspiration.

It suddenly occurred to me. Have you checked on and posted in "Duplicate Books"? http://forum.alexanderpalace.org/index.php?topic=2052.675   We set that up as a free place for people to give or swap duplicate books with people who need them.  You may have some success there.

I'm glad you're finding all the help you need. I would be very much interested in buying some of the books from you when you're done. Whatever you're willing to part with :-)

I know of the topic, but has not yet bring my desperation in it. I probably will, thank you for the suggestion! A friend who ordered the book was told it was recently shipped, so I´ll give it a week more, but then I need to take some action.

Hello everyone,

so I finished writing my thesis last night, but a new problem arose. The English-native speaker who had consented to proof-read the whole thing (looking for possible grammatical errors) just informed me she does not have time, and I am rather anxious because I need to have it corrected by Monday. Would there be anyone here willing to read the thesis and correct it today or tommorow please? It is about 40 pages, and I dare say that a person with a knowledge of the Romanovs should not have trouble finding orientation in the text.

I am in a tight spot right now. :-/

Hi, Ally, I'm sorry if I can't help you. I do hope you've already found someone to proof-read your thesis.
