Apraxin Family
« on: July 06, 2013, 05:16:06 PM »
Hi everyone

I am new to the forum having found it trying to do some research on my family. I am the great great grand-daughter of Count Apraxin. His daughter Olga is my paternal great grandmother. She died in the early 1990s in the UK so sadly I am unable to use her for more information. I do have some sketchy details (which may or may not be true) which is that she escaped the revolution underneath (or in a false bottom) of a carriage. She (or other members of the family) managed to take quite a bit of the family jewellery so we do have some amazing pieces still in the family. I understand she was good friends with the Grand Duchess Anastasia and even in her old age she used to become very sad when discussing her.

I do also know that the Apraxin line was also connected to Genghis Khan.

I am also under the impression that Olga's mother came from another very noble family - however I really don't know which family - the name Postnikov for some reason seemed to be discussed but I am not sure why?

I also believe the family had a number of properties. One in St P and another in the Crimea.

If anyone has any information on the Apraxin family I would be so grateful.

Thank you in advance.

I did find this Apraxin family geneaology online, but I can't see how your family history fits in with it.  I hope it helps you some.

Thank you for your help. I am going to try and contact my Great Aunt and see if she can take a look at the geneaology line and see if she can see where we fit. I do know that the family lived in St P as their primary residence so this may help narrow the field for me. I also understand the Apraxin family tree is extremely inaccurate in places so I suspect my search is going to be a tricky one.

Thanks again.
