Recording of Alexei's voice
« on: July 03, 2013, 07:11:25 AM »
I found this video which claims to have a recording of both Nicholas II's and the Tsarevitch' voices. I nearly died when I heard Alexei's two hurrah's in his high soprano voice.
Would any of you be able to determine whether this recording could be genuine? The Youtube comments are inconclusive on this point.

I'm not really able to make that out. Alexei's voice that is. There a couple of higher pitched sounds I can hear in the second half of the recording but they quickly blend in with the music.

I've seen/heard this video before. Since it's the property of FrozenTears.org perhaps Laura Mabee would know more...?

I've heard that it was Alexei's voice before! I do hear the two high hurrahs in that audio, yes, but is it Alexei? I'm unsure...

I've always assumed it was a glitch in the recording.

I strongly doubt that that is Alexei's voice. I think it is a glitch, just likt Lady Macduff.

It's at 39 to 41 seconds in.

The recording itself is genuine. However, no one else has ever claimed Aleksei is part of it before. IMO, this Youtube member is incorrect in assuming the two high hurrahs are the tsarevich.

No voice recordings of the imperial children are known to exist. Marie Feodorovna had a set at one time, but they have never resurfaced. It's presumed they were lost or destroyed in the revolution.

I agree with Sarushka. I think it is the same person who started the hurrahs suddenly doing it falsetto. It is an adult's voice

I agree. Count Vladimir Voeikov described Alexei's voice as 'melodious, cheerful'. ;-)

Thank you all for your replies.
It may not be Aleksei's voice then. Well, it's a disappointing thought but I was anxious to hear what you experts would say ;) (well, the only experts I can easily approach anyway ;))
It was a thrilling idea to have heard the tsarevich's voice and that alone has left an impression - even if it was a false one, it was worthwhile just to get that sensation.

Btw I found out that the audio recording is also used on a CD by folk singer Jeanne Bichevskaya called 'Tsar Nicholas'. I found this out after visiting the Frozen Tears website - I had seen the website's name but never actually visited it before. I was very pleased when I did. I have listened to the album also now and it's a very nice inspiration in the background while I am writing and researching for my collection of poems about Aleksej - I have about 30 now :)

Thanks! I'm glad that album was of some use. I have heard rumors of 'Nicholas II's' voice before but not Alexei's.
Anyways, thanks for the kind comments.
