You must wait for "Les grandes personnages de l'histoire du Château à travers les âges".

In "A royal Family" Prince Joachim of Denmark tells this story about Margrethe: Once, at a state dinner, he sat next to her, and she taught him how to make small balls out of the bread they had with the meal, and shoot them into the other guests champagne glasses. Eventually she succeded in shooting one of the balls into Prince Henrik's glass, just as he was reaching out for it. Joachim thought he was to be blamed, but his father knew exatly who the sinner was, and that was what surprised Joachim most. That his father turned to her, and not him.
He doesn't say when this happend, but he has to be at least 18 years old to attend a state dinner. He turned 18 in 1987, so Margrethe was over 90 years old! She was indeed a lady with high spirit and fun to be with.

Just love this story...

And there was another lovely story where Princess Margrethe asked for her hundred anniversary she wanted to ride on an elephant through Copenhagen. The family feared this as Princess Margrethe died close to this anniversary, the day after her 97th birthday.

Nice but small...Where is it now ?

The portraits are still in "The Yellow Mansion", home of Prince Valdemar and Princess Marie.

Yes, since the thread was started Denmark has a new Princess Marie, so maybe a moderator could ad Orleans to this threads title.

No, i don't think so, since the building contains the office of the Lord Chamberlain and as such is a workplace.

I don't know, but I would imagine that it has.

Princess Marie had a tendency to exaggerate her political influence, which Alexander III was made to feel, and he and MF became quite tired of her frequent approaches. In 1894 MF writes, "Marie has again written a completely pointless letter to Sacha- naturally because she is with her parents she has to demonstrate her intimacy again.- He showed it to me and said, comme c'est bête (how stupid it is), I asked him not to wire his thanks to her, as this is exactly what she wanted in order to be able to show that she corresponds with him- and neither has he done so. What a curious person she is, don't you think."
