I have hundreds, literally, but I do not have a scanner at home, only at my office.

In 2000 the trust handling the inheritance of the late Count of Paris auctioned off in Paris sveral hundred lots of historical items.  I was lucky in getting about 2400 private family photos of the Orléans, of which I sol about 40% and retained the rest in the Eurohistory Archive.

Then in 2003 another sale took place and I got 600+ more Orléans/Danish/Russian/Bourbon/Parma photos.

My hope is to start producing photo books on each of the Royal families sometime next year, since in 2005we already have at least 4 books in the pipeline.

Thank you for posting the pics.
I wonder where the other Marie was?
Do you think that the relationship between Waldemar and George was common knowledge in their families.

Most danish books just states that they were very good friends!

I just saw a picture of Maries brother , Jean de Guise and a Prince of Siam. Appereantly they lived in Denmark for a period and were good friends.
It looks quit funny, Jean being very tall and the Siam Prince small.

Prince Jean d'Orléans, Duc de Guise, served in the Danish military since he was not allowed to do his military service in the French army.

Well common enough for a grandchild of Waldemar to discuss this "special" friendship with me, openly, some sixty years after Waldemar's death!

In the Waldemar & George thread in the Greek section I had posted a good deal about it based on the book by Celia Bertin on Marie Bonaparte. Certainly the wives knew about it but as for the rest of the family at the time, I don't know. Obviously information came out in later years but I don't know if it was common knowledge then or if it was known, how widespread it was throughout the family.

I look forward to those picture books, Arturo! How lucky you are to have those photos! Maybe you can tell us a bit more about Marie's sister Marguerite. What was she like? I saw a picture of her recently and she resembles her sister very much! Was she a character like Marie?

Princess Maries motto was " Qui qu´en grogne, je m´en moque". Something like (??): Let them complain, I dont care!

Yes she does!
This is what her daughter, Margrethe said about her mother. "We children thought that mother was so beautiful. Elegant and tall, perhaps because she always wore high heals.
She could imitate almost every person, but didnt do it often cause my father didnt like it. He didnt like it either when she with her french humor called the ladys at court ,les dames d`honneur, for les dames d`horreur.
When one of the strangest existenses of Copenhagen, (called) "Maiden pass time" died, there was only one person at her funeral. My mother"

Kmetov, thank you for sharing that! Where did you find that quote from Margrethe, about her mother?

What a great sense of humor Marie had, and it was nice that she passed it onto Margrethe. --On the Royal Family program, Queen Anne of Romania remembered how her mother (Margrethe) had been working in a hat shop in NYC. Crown Princess Martha of Norway came in, and sat her hat down on a chair while she went to try on others. Up comes a lady, picks up Martha's hat and tries it on. "How much is this?" she asks Margrethe. So Margrethe made up a price, and off the hat went on the lady's head! Of course Martha comes back, looking for the hat, and Margrethe smiles and says "Sorry, but I got an awful good deal for that hat!"

Also, in her later years, Margrethe would try to liven up state dinners by teaching the children how to roll up their bread into tiny balls, and fling them into guests champange glasses!

Your are welcome :).
I got the quote from a danish book about the royal family. It also had the stories you tolled about, which are very funny. One can only imagine those scenes..
A quote from Margrethe about herself. "One day my father had punished me for something, and that same evening we had guests for dinner. I had sworn revenge and when the chicken came in, I bowed over the table and said very sad to my father: Oh God, is it finally dead, well it has been sick for a very long time".
