I didn't know where to put this so started a new thread ( feel free to move it ).
The author's name rings a bell, did he post on this forum at some point?

So we're actually giving column inches to this nonsense?

It's almost hard to imagine why these tall tales continue being told...

If the author is willing to come on here and defend themselves that's one thing. Maybe we should let a topic thread like this exist for a designated window of no more than, say, a month. If they haven't made a point to come and address the legitimate concerns of those on the largest Romanov/Russian history oriented website on the internet, than I say shut it down!

Fantastic how the Daily Mail obviously thinks its readers think like this:
Ah, Olympics in Russia - I had nearly forgotten where it was. Oh vey, lots of Ukraine, Soviet republics, Russian history and Crimea. How was Russian history again? Did that Tsar family really survive?

Their next "revelation" will be: The Yalta Conferance - did it really take place? Was the Cold War just a huge conspiracy? Evidence: Global warming.

I am sure Putin looooves the Daily Mail, which won't let facts get in the way of a good conspirational story.

The Daily Mail has a recent track record of pushing questionable books about royalty. Another example is a book claiming that Princess Louise had an illegitimate child by an equerry before her marriage.

This book can't be all bad. For example I just  learned  that Yakov Yurovsky was the owner of Ipatiev House. Who knew that 'Ipatiev' was "Yurovsky' in Cyrillic?

You have got to be kidding me.  Another book about Anastasia surviving, even though that was debunked years ago.

Seriously, why do these books keep coming out?  How gullible do these authors think people are?

I can't wait for the sequel, which will reveal how Anastasia hooked up with Judge Crater, and they both went to live in Bora Bora.  They ended up having a love child, who grew up to befriend Elvis Presley and helped Elvis fake his death in 1977.

All of that is common knowledge Tim, except that they went to live in Tahiti, not Bora Bora :-)

Maybe I'm the gullible one here, but I think there are quite a number of people "out there" who are not the least bit interested in serious literature of any sort.   The same ones who buy dime store romances (or maybe the ones who are hooked on the Kardashians) would be taken in by this.   They probably have no idea who or what the Romanovs were and have no interest in pursuing the subject.   They're just looking for entertainment.     I have no idea what costs are involved with having a book published, but isn't just possible the author is banking on enough of these types to buy his garbage to make a quick, tidy profit.

This repetetive yawn-inducing book is "explosive"? Wonder what the Daily Mail thinks about the Crimean crisis? Boring, because it's a nightmare and not a fairytale?

I must confess I'm surprised these people actually read books and not just watch TV. Come to think of it, TV is perhaps too fact-based for their tastes, when it largely consists of "reality TV"!

I suspect it will play out with this fiction masquerading as "non-fiction" will disappear swiftly into obscurity as yet another "Chariots of the Gods" attempt to cash in for a few quick kopecks.

Maybe I'll write my own book on how Tatiana was reincarnated as my cat.  Sounds no less crazy than some of the other books out there.
