I agree ! Helen's slender build made her ideal for 20]s and thirties fashion, while her sister-in-law law Mignon, who was more stout, gradually became a fat cow.  

Sure, Marie was not so pretty as her sister-in-law. But, all the romanian Princesses were strong like their mother in her older age. And Elizaveta was fater than her younger sister !

No...Mignon was actually prettier than Helen as she had more classical features and lovely skin like her mother. However in her later years paid little attention to her looks and gradual her weight problems contribute to be becoming "the cow". Helen , who was not as classical in featues, made it up by dressing elegent. The styles in the late 20's and 30's were flattering to her slim figure. another who did the same was Elisabeth, Queen of Belgium.

Elena/Helen was more graceful, natural looking and lady like than a born beauty like Missy.

i completely disagree... missy was grace... helen herself was very elegant and graceful, but i don't think she ever beat her mother-in-law

I think they are very different types. Missy was more forward, extrovert, a beauty to be behold. Helen was more elegant, quiet but also very firm in her belief too. They did learn to appreciate each other.

 ok Mignon and Helen can be compared;but to compare Helen with Queen Marie this is far too much  and useless cause will never agree on that that's for sure

I think they are both good in their own way and style, although Missy shines like the sun, and Helen is like the moon.

Does anyone have pictures of the beautiful Queen Marie of Romania and her daughter-in-law Helen posing together in the 1920's and 1930's, please ? I would be curious to see that. Thanks for your posts.

yes she deffinetly had taste in clothes:)

...and i think Marie dressed herself in black not to overshadow her daughter-in-law on her wedding day same situation at Mignon's wedding   hard to have  a mother or mother-in-law like Queen Marie of Romania

i wish they had taken more photos on this day;i have seen only 3 photos of Helen as a bride:this and another one with Carol,and one with Helen alone

It is definitely Helen.  Softer expression, shorter nose, Irene also had a longer face and jaw.

Hmmm...I am still not totally convinced. I have seen pictures of Irene looked just like Helen. Especially if they use softer light and the same hair style. This sketch can go either way in my opinion (and I have seen a lot of royal pics...)

You are right, and they dressed in a similar way and so on, but I promise, promise that this is Helen!! I have not seen as many royal pics as you have I am sure,   but I have seen and studied loads of Queen Helen - I really admire her.  I simply cannot find a picture I know exists somewhere, a portrait of Irene by de Laszlo I think, perhaps I saw it in a book, and it looks like the one of Helen, but you can see the difference clearly.  Anyone out there have a picture of Irene??
