Faberge Egg Charms
(1/1)
TreasureHunter:
Does anyone here collect Faberge egg charms?
I'm not talking about the many cheap copies that have flooded the market since, but antique originals.
Given their collectability and beauty, I am surprised that there is not a detailed book regarding them, at least not to my knowledge.
Does anyone here know where there are originals for sale?
Forum Admin:
The major dealers always have a few for sale. They are also the safest bet to safeguard against the many many fakes being passed off as genuine. Romanov Russia dot com, A La Veille Russie in New York, Wartski in London.
Be prepared to spend between $5000 and $25.000 for just one.
If you find them "cheaper" elsewhere, they are probably fakes. Major auctions of Russian antiques also usually have a few. Check them as well.
TreasureHunter:
Do we know approximately how many of these charms were made?
I think they would make for an interesting item to collect, but I can not seem to locate any collector resources.
Faberge and the word 'cheap' have never belonged together in the same sentence and they never will.
I have seen a few photographs of necklaces, which appear to have the charms, but I am unsure if Faberge made egg pendant necklaces or if they had a basic necklace or bracelet that you were supposed to add the charms to. It seems like the charms came in a wide variety of styles, themes, materials and colors too.
