Hello!

I’m seeking opinions on the uniform of my great-grandfather Antoni Serafinski: http://www.rathlynn.com/uniform/serafinski.jpg

I understand that he was born in 1877 in the Russian partition of Poland, and emigrated to NY, arriving in April 1907. I was told that he served in the Army where he received a commendation from the Tsar, though when and for what I don’t know; he may have had medical training. This information is at least second-hand, so I don’t know how reliable it is. In addition, I was told that the original photograph was badly damaged and later reconstructed by drawing in some details, so again it’s hard to know how accurate those details may (or may not) be. Any opinions or information will be most appreciated.

Thanks very much!
