Anastasia (1999 Animated Film)
« on: April 21, 2015, 09:30:46 PM »
Are any people familiar with the 1999 animated Anastasia film?  It is part of Golden Films' "Enchanted Tales" series.  It is loosely historically accurate, although there are parts of it that stretch the truth to enhance the plot, such as depicting Rasputin as the leader of the Revolution.  Still, I had the feeling that the producers did their homework, and there are some quite catchy songs.  It is available for free for those of you who have Comcast XFINITY TV.

Thanks for the info on Comcast. Might be worth checking out again.

As you can probably imagine about 99% of the members of this forum have seen "Anastasia" at some point or another. There is an entire thread dedicated to it.

Are you talking about this film? I bought it and watched it many many many years ago.
I thought it...weird...badly animated and of course inaccurate. But I was pleasantly surprised they bothered to make a movie about them that included all of the family members.
They probably made this because 20th Century Fox made a movie called Anastasia (the one people are more familiar with)

Yes, that's the one I mean.

I have seen this. While inaccurate I did think the Come Now Comrades song sung by Rasputin was pretty good.

This was discussed many years ago.  Bob Atchison was interviewed by the NY Times about the film on its release and quoted about how terribly inaccurate the factual history was. Please try to use the search function before posting questions.  It becomes confusing when new members post about topics discussed years ago, to newer members

If this (http://www.nytimes.com/1997/11/09/movies/after-the-revolution-comes-anastasia-the-cartoon.html) is the interview you mean, ForumAdmin, there appears to be a misunderstanding.  This article is about the 1997 20th Century Fox film that is better known.  The film I am referring to is this one:http://www.hulu.com/watch/490859.  If Bob Atchison was interviewed by the NYT about this production as well, I would love to see the link to that discussion, please, since I could not find it with the search function.  I apologize for any annoyance this has caused. :-$

My error. I did not recall two films released so close together
