Pretty remarkable Ally!

Haunting is one word that comes to mind. Another is sad. Just another reminder of the eery process of time and history. A glimpse into a lost word through its modern day ruins and the images that conjures up.

Living things die and are replaced. It's all part of the life cycle of course. But people, unlike trees and blades of grass and even most animals, are unique. The human race gets added to and subtracted from over time but we don't really get "replaced". I guess that's why it's a little sad to see crumbling buildings like this. We can't be around forever but buildings/monuments, when kept up properly, can. It's a way of helping to ensure that some things are eternal. When they disappear so too go the ghosts that occupy them.
