Dear CG, according to publisher book has been out for a week and they are sitting in amazon warehouse, but amazon is having some issues shipping them out: they are backlogged! This is not just an issue with the Tatiana book but apparently many others. Sorry about that!

From publisher:

"The book released a week ago but Amazon is in a state of disarray at the moment: their warehouses are so overbooked because of the holidays that trucks are not able to unload their cargo. Our book is stuck in their system; I have no idea if it will be available before Christmas or not due to their problems getting trucks in and unloading them. It is an industry wide problem at the moment. They will continue to take pre-orders, I am told, but it’s not the same as having the book available."

Ah ok, its just a holiday backlog thing, thats ok, better later than never! Cant wait to get it, love your books! Got a collection going :D

I guess there are tons more letters and diaries in the GARF yet to be translated and published? Probably lots of photos unseen, too, do you have another book in the wings after this one?

LOL not even got it yet and already asking for more, can't help it, its just so neat there are more things yet to be discovered in GARF, i'd be like a kid in a candy store if i could read russian :P

Thank you for responding so quick, too, hope you have a great Christmas and New Years!

thanks so much, Suzanne. So glad you have enjoyed the book. I personally think it's the best one yet, even if I say so myself :)

I agree - there is a lot of depth to this book with the inclusion of previously unpublished memoirs as well as Tatiana's letters and diaries.

P.S. Suzanne is my middle name - I think Carolyn may have been taken as a username when I signed up for the forum all those years ago!

Tatiana's diary is a little more interesting than Olga's, IMO. Olga's was just a list of what she did during the day, basically. Interesting to a Romanov fanatic, but not a lot of substance. Tatiana's was too, but here and there she dropped little details about how she felt.

It pretty much fits their personalities doesn't it? Tatiana was certainly more open with her feelings then Olga was. I guess that extended not just to the open world around them but empty notebooks as well.

I think it shows how complicated a person can be. I always understood Tatiana was reserved and a bit mysterious as to what she was thinking or feeling, while it was said Olga wore her heart on her sleeve and was far more open. Makes sense, I guess, that Tatiana would be more inclined to open up a bit to her diary what she hesitated to reveal openly around others (outsiders). But that's only us on the outside looking in. My guess is that her sisters always knew what she was thinking and feeling about everything.

I found it interesting that Olga's diary was full of references to her mother's health, whereas that comes more rarely into Tatiana's diary.
