Iron Felix statue
« on: September 10, 2017, 09:14:19 PM »
According to the Wall Street Journal the Russians have erected a new statue of Felix Dzerzhinsky founder of the Cheka. Note the centennial of  the founding of the Cheka is on 20 Dec of this year no doubt President Putin will commemorate this event. Of course nothing will be said about the tens of millions of people murdered, jailed, tortured ect by this organization and its renamed successors.

6 Sept 2017 WSJ. Note there were statues of iron Felix in Moscow and in his Polish home town but they were removed after the fall of Communism. Some wag suggested the Polish statue should have been left up after all Dzerzhinsky did kill more Russians than any other Pole in history!

There is also a statue of V.I. Lenin in Seattle Washington US believe it or not. It looks like it will be there for a long time unless the movies on OTMA and AN in the works are hits and whole lot of Women and girls start protesting it!

The Lenin statue in Seattle was originally in Poland. Removed after the collapse of the USSR and bought by an American and shipped to Seattle because the American thought it had artistic merit.

Does the fool who put the statue there know what Lenin did? If Lenin had not seized power there would have been no Communism, No Russian Civil War, No Stalin, No WW II, No Cold War and no hundreds of millions of dead do to the above.

It had NOTHING to do with a political statement. He was an artist who felt the sculpture had artistic merit and nothing more.

I clicked on the link above, expecting to see some run-of-the-mill Soviet statue of Lenin, and was surprised to find instead a larger than life work of art whose splendid execution and remarkable beauty nearly subsumes its subject and ideology.  I can certainly understand why anyone would fall in love with it and want to possess and preserve it.
