"Anastasia, Die letzte Zarentochter"
« on: June 17, 2005, 09:07:07 PM »
This is a movie filmed in 1956, starring Lili Palmer. She portrayed Anna Anderson, and this, as I read (since I couldn't see it) is AA true story. Turhan Bey portrayed Gleb Botkin. It seems that it's pretty accurate and they even show the Franziska Schanzkowska story...Did someone saw it? I would like to know how good this movie is.

I'm not one of those people who said: "Oh, well! It's a not the historical truth, but it's a good movie! It's Holliwood, you know!"  :D I only like accurate movies! I accept that Amy Irving was excellent in "Anastasia; The mystery of Anna" but I didn't like the series a bit. It was only garbage. Bad stuff. I wanted to see a good movie on Anna. Perhaps is the Lili Palmer's one...As for the Ingrid Bergman one...Ugh...More garbage!

P.S: The title of this ovie in English is " Is Anna Anderson Anastasia?"

P.S2: I noticed that some of my post didn't have any answers. Why? I'm an insane, a weird woman, or simply a boring and not interesting person?  :-[

I don't remember how accurate the film was, especially as I'm not very familiar with the details of the Anna Anderson story, but I know I didn't much like the film.
So this isn't very helpful  I'm afraid :P.

In the movie (I read this, but I'm not sure, for I didn't see it) they didn't portrayed a made up Anastasia, like the Ingrid Bergman Anastasia did. It is not the story of the GD Anastasia. It's Anna Anderson story, and it seems it's end is open to any ideas: you could think it was really who claimed to be, or Franziska Schanskowska. It's for that I'm interested in it.
But thank you, Silja! At least you wanted to help me and answered my post!  :) You are a dear..

I have only seen 2 "Anastasia" movies: the Ingrid Bergman version and the Don Bluth animated musical.

I HATED the Bergman film.  I like Ingrid as an actress, but if she snivled one more time in that movie, i was hoping Yul Brynner or Helen Hayes would finish off the job the bolsheviks started!!!!!

I actually really enjoyed the Don Bluth film.  While it is treated as a "fairytale", I really like the finished product.  The "Once Upon a December" scene always gives me chills.  Like with Disney's Pocahontas, it is seriously flawed in it's historical facts (although they did manage to drown Rasputin in a frozen river at the beginning), it is still very much in the spirit of th "mystery" surrounding the Tsar's 4th daughter.

I have never seen the Amy Irving version, but am curious to do so.  I've heard mixed reports on that one.

Does anyone know who played Anastasia in the original 1953 TV version withg Peter Cushing???
