The Spirit of Tatiana Nikolaevna
« on: May 07, 2016, 02:17:26 PM »
Hi anyone out there! I was just browsing when I saw this story from the Memoirs of Prince Christopher of Greece .

Prince Christopher of Greece-who held a fascination of spirits and ghosts-claimed to have been visited by the spirit of Tatiana Nikolaevna who cleared up the Anna Anderson mystery.

This is the extract from his memoirs:

Then the lights were turned out and almost immediately the medium went into a trance. […] Then there was silence, broken only by the heavy breathing of the medium. Suddenly one of the trumpets rose from the floor and hit me lightly on the head as though to attract my attention. At first I heard only a faint murmur, then the words came clearly. To my amazement they were Russian.

“Don’t you recognize me?” The soft voice seemed curiously familiar, but I could not identify it. “I have been following you around,” it went on with a little laugh. “I am Tatiana.”

The only Tatiana I knew was the second daughter of the Czar, Nicholas II, and I said so.

“Yes, of course.” I could swear there was a note of triumph in the voice.

“We are all here,” it went on in perfect Russian. “We send you our love and kiss you”–there was a sound of someone blowing a kiss–“and Anastasia wants you to know that the person who is on her way to America is not she. You must tell Auntie Xenia this.”

The voice died away and the trumpet fell to the ground.

To people who don't believe in spirits and ghosts: Freaky that he was right, and that he claimed this because he was correct. :)

To the people who believe in ghosts and spirits: So Tatiana came to tell Prince Christopher that they were all dead and Anna Anderson was a fraud. Why didn't she go and tell her Aunt Olga or Xenia herself? Or did she tell Christopher because he believed in ghosts and spirits and knew he would believe her?

Yeah, I've heard this story before.  Don't know if it actually happened or not, but it is interesting that it labels AA as a fraud.

If it was Tatiana, she clearly knew, because the real Anastasia was there with her.

Hi Tim!

I do find it interesting that it mentions AA as a fraud, and kind of amusing that-if it is true-Tatiana came and told Prince Christopher. You would think it would be Anastasia to confirm to his own eyes that she died that fateful night, but Tatiana was someone who went to straight to point, so it would make sense she wanted to stop Anna Anderson claiming to be her little sister to someone who would believe her-as a spirit or alive herself (I'm not claiming she lived by saying this).

While I believe we are surrounded by many thing unseen, I am one of those who utterly condemn talking to the dead and do not believe anything "clean" can come out of it. This whole tale, in any case, strikes me as made up by the Prince to argue his own stance on AA.

Kind of reminds me of a short story I wrote some years back called "Afterlife".  In it, after AA dies and goes to the spirit world, she is met, and called out by Anastasia.   If you're curious about it:

I am very wary of so-called mediums. While I do think that some people have a degree of second sight, anyone who asks for money for 'using' it is by definition a fraud.

Olga Alexandrovna strikes me as far too down-to-earth a person to have anything to do with seances.

I have heard of some people talking to dead people through their dreams, willingly or not. But that's IF Tatiana did visit Prince Christopher from the afterlife.

Good story . If it were ever possible for Anastasia to have known about AA's claims ,  I think she would have seen the funny side of it , although the joke may have worn thin by about 1929.

I am very skeptical of any story like this, but it's certainly interesting. I hadn't heard of it before.

Yeah, I would imagine her not being too thrilled about it.
