Here are some photos I took of the Sheremetev Palace in 2007 -- hopefully, more rooms are now restored. Several rooms have very interesting exhibits of musical instruments, and in the back of the Palace is the wonderful museum apartment of Anna Akhmatova.

Joanna, the exterior woodwork, interiors, instruments, and furnishings are all very beautiful. Thank you for posting this launch pad for some research.

Many thanks Tatyana for sharing your photos. The bottom one with the rare photo c1800s is wonderful. I will check the other photos I have collected on the Sheremetev palaces to see if I have that one.

Some of the musical instruments in the museum today belonged to the imperial family. I was just reading about Alexander III's clarinet.

Joanna and Sanochka, you are so kind with your comments about my photos. I particularly enjoyed taking the last one, of the old ladies raptly enjoying a 21st century film in a 18th-19th century palace room!
I took some other pics of the musical instruments on display, but I doubt the Imperial family played most of them as they are quite exotic.
