Yes, that is Maria on the chair and l-r Anastasia, Olga and Tatiana.

Here is a nice rare pic of Maria and Anastasia taken by Queen Alexandra. Unfortunatly the quality of my scan is terrible. The picture came from the current issue of Royalty Magazine (which I never get usually but this time it had a few good articles.) In the magazine the pic is so clear and wonderful.

Re: the picture of moonlight_tsarina.

In Prince Michael of Greece's "The Family Albums", Maria is identified as the one on the chair. I always thought that she must be Olga, and that Maria is actually the one standing next to Nicholas with the camera in hand. (the others are obviously TN on Nii's left, and AN the shortest one). What do you think?

Literally from Russian it is "tsesarevich".

The article is about Queen Alexandras love of photography. It is really about the new Frances Dimond book called Deveoloping the picture Queen Alexandra and the art of photography. There is no real info or anything about the Roamnovs it just shows a couple of the photos QA took.

I purchase this and Majesty from Borders. This was the last copy . I know they also carry both at Books a Million.

Tsar is also derived from 'Caesar'. The alternative spelling czar perhaps reflects that better. Kaiser also comes from caesar and actually reflects the Latin pronunciation (not "seizer" as in English!)
