Re: grouchy expressions, you sometimes had to stand quite still for the camera and weren't "supposed" to smile.

I don't think AN's feet look weird due to size, but rather to the malformation in her feet called hallus valgus. I have a friend who also suffers from it and her feet look just like AN's in this picture. It's a malformation at the root of the big toes which made the enlarged knuckle look like it's bent to one side with toes cramped on each other. AN's condition became known during the Anna Anderson case, because she supposedly had it too.
